CityM – Creative, Innovative and Transferable Methods in the Training of Teachers and Training Staff (Formal and Non-formal Education)
The coordinating institution is the National Agency for Community Programmes in the Field of Education and Vocational Training in Romania. 15 partner institutions are participating in the project mainly National Agencies from Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and UK.
The project aims to contribute to improving training of teachers and training staff and improving the exploitation of products and results of projects financed under the Lifelong Learning Programme.
Changes in the society at large and in education in particular place new demands on the teaching profession These changes require teachers and trainers not only to acquire new knowledge and competences, but also to develop them continuously. At the same time, the systems for training of teachers and training staff are not always able to meet these new demands. On the other hand, there is an array of LLP-funded projects that address this issue, some of them developing creative, updated and innovative methods for the training of teachers and training staff. As underlined by the Ecotec report, few projects succeed in making their results known to the larger public, not to mention integrating them into national policies and practices.
Consequently, the objectives of the projects and the partnership of the15 Agencies involved are:
• Identify and review projects funded by LLP, centralised and de-centralised, that have a meaningful contribution to the development of creative and transferrable methods in the training of teachers and training staff.
• Select, with the help of experts, a set of creative, innovative methods, with a great potential for transferability and compile a kit to be used by anyone interested in adopting or building upon these methods.
• Make relevant recommendations to policy makers concerning the integration into educational policies and/or practice of innovative methods and results.
Further details will follow soon.
